Passing fairly close to the fort, a big black dog jumped out before him and kept running out and in between his legs and round about him, so that he was not able to proceed on his journey.
Eventually the dog disappeared and the boy made his way home. On reaching the house he was speechless, and was put to bed immediately. The following day he had not recovered his speech, and the local Doctor was sent for.
The Doctor informed his parents that the boy had got a fright. In a few days, he was able to speak, and is now quite well.
