- (ar lean ón leathanach roimhe)donkey field. There is a well in my village named St. Patrick Well. Tradition tells us that St Patrick took a drink from the well, and the impression of his hands and feet are still to be seen by the wellside. A tree is over looking its water and it is hollow in the centre. The tree never buds and wild birds build their nests in it.There is a field in my village in which a battle was fought during the stay of the Danes in Ireland. It stays green all seasons, and a large tree grows in its centre. It is believed that it was haunted by fairies long ago.There is a 'Lioseen' in my village where unbaptised children were buried. One time a man buried a baptised child (?) in it. Some night afterwards on his way home the fairies caught him, brought him into the 'Lios', and made him take up the coffin, and bury it in a graveyard.
