After the meal was taken from the mill, it was packed in a big calico bag, which sometimes reached from the floor to the ceiling and usually contained from eight to ten hundreds. This was the staple-food throughout the years.
Another mixture which was called "Boxty" was a welcome delight to the people, long ago. On party evenings, when a crowd gathered into a house this was looked forward to. To make "Boxty", a scraper was required and this was made by making holes in a piece of tin. The potatoes were grated on this and then they were squeezed and next mixed with flour and a pinch of salt.
