   The fox is a very clever little animal; he plays many tricks so as to avoid his enemy. About a hundred years ago an old man named Jimmy Ryan lived in a place called "Gleann" near our village. He had a new hen-house a little distance from his home. One morning when he went to let out the hens he found ten or eleven of them dead. When he went in he saw the fox stretched on the floor. He opened the door to examine him when he did the fox ran out.

   One day a man was cutting hay with a scythe. When he came to a corned where bushes were growing a weasel came out and caught him by the coat. The man was afraid so he pulled off his coat and threw it in the field and ran home. When he came back the weasel was spatting into a can of milk the man had for drinking. When the man went back cutting the hay he saw a nest of weasels turned up-side down. He turned the nest and fixed it in the corner and when he did the mother spilled the milk.

   A lizard is a very small animal; he lives in very wet places. One fine summers day a man was eating his dinner on the brink of a stream. Suddenly he
