Local Marriage Customs.
To be married on,

In this locality old boots and
streamers are tied to the wedding
car which is said to be lucky. As
the married couple leave the church
rice or confetti is thrown over them.
In the Parish of Rush, each year
about one hundred pounds is divided
between five girls married in the
month of May. Those girls must be
born and baptized in Rush, and must be aged between 21 and 32 years before the receive it. This money is called
the May-money.
Long ago a former baron of the
