   The man who is blacksmith around here is called William Doherty. The horses have to work very hard all year except for a few months in winter.
   Each of the horses has its own name Nelly , and Dolly.
   The first thing in the morning the farmer does is to fodder the cattle.
   After this he milks the cows, and gets the horses ready for the day's work.
   At night the same thing happens the cows are brought in from the park, and are milked again. The calves and horses get their drink or if it is good weather only the youngest calves get a drink of sweet-milk and porridge.
   The same thing happens every day in life except on Sunday when he has the day to himself.
   On St Bridget's night crosses are made and one of them is put in the byre, and another in the stable to good luck on the animals.
