About the time this happened to Doherty a woman was coming with groceries from the shop at night about half a mile from her own house and she was taking a short cut through a bog. She was met and attacked by several small people and it was only when her screams brought assistance and when help was near at hand that these little people disappeared. The people who came to her aid carried lights and lanterns and could see a long distance by the light yet they failed to discover whither these creatures disappeared. The neighbours still maintain that these little folk had no secret cave which no one was able to discover.
