    Casadh damh cailín i n-éideadh ró-bhréagh
    D’fiosruigh mé dí cé’n rogha aca bhfeárr
    An táilliúr, an gréasaidhe, no’n gabh a dheánfadh spád.
    Labhair sí crúin céillidhe liom “sén fear liom a bfeárr”
    Fear talaimh acht é fhághail go bráthach
    “Maise mallacht o’n spéir ort”! arsan géaganach’ mná
    “Maise easbaig an cléir ort”! arsa’n gréasaidhe go tráthach
    “Sé’n cuidrígadh bheirim féin dí” arsa’n gabh a deánfadh spád
    Trom an óird mhór ort, de peacadh ‘s de smál.
