  1. In the year '91 we had good cause to cry
We lost our good shepherd the 6th of July.
The widows and orphans all for him do weep,
Death closely engaged him and touched him to sleep
In Kilbride, Balliwaltrim, Kilboy or Ballard,
His sweet lovely voice no more shall be heard.
He is gone to the Churches and that we all know
He has left his whole parish in sorrow and woe.
The last Mass he celebrated to his flock he did say
You must get another priest for I'm going away,
I am not able to serve you though I have done it this day,
And I beg you dear christians you'll all for me pray.
Standing at the altar his robes he did wear
With his red rosy cheeks and curling black hair.
He was a credit to his family on his burial day.
That crowds of bright angels around him may play
Tras-scríofa ag duine dár meitheal tras-scríbhneoirí deonacha.
