The Digging of the Potatoes
In the month of October the digging
of the potatoes begins, and it is
the most important work of Autumn.
Long ago they used to dig
the potatoes out, but nowadays
the farmers plough them out
because it would take too long to
dig a few acres of potatoes.
Long ago they brought them in,
in baskets, which they called
eiseáin.
