  1. The local people believe the school to be haunted. Lights are seen at night moving from room to room - it contains four rooms - and the lights are seen most frequently in the rooms at the extreme ends of the building. The pupils here now tell me they have often seen the lights.
It appears when the school was being built, about forty years , a haunted house near the High Fort, in Killedan was pulled down and the stones used in the construction of the school. Hence the fairies have a claim to the school.
This is the third school built on this site. The first, a thatched one, was burned nearly 60 years ago by the Breanans and Dohertys of Treenabontry. The teachers got into trouble with the neighbours. The principal was agent to the landlord and an eviction of the tenants of the whole town-land of Treenabontry was about to take place. The land-lord became alarmed and no eviction occurred.
The second one was built by Canon Judge PP Bohola and the present by his successor Canon John O'Grady PP.
