- There are not many stories of hidden treasure in this district. No treasure was buried by any human being. The leipreachaun is said to have buried a pot of gold in a field belonging to Thomas Tarpey of Bekan but Thomas Tarpey or his father before him would not allow any one to dig up the treasure.
A man named Molloney of Bekan dreamt that there was half a horse-shoe and some coppers buried under the one-mile bush on the Brackhlagh road. For three nights in succession he dreamt about this and asking an old man he was told it must be true. The next(leanann ar an chéad leathanach eile)
