- Long ago people never wore shoes until they were twenty years of age. Some of the rich people used to wear them when they used to be about four years of age. About one hundred and fifty years ago there lived in Clooncrim a man by the name of John Rushe and he never wore a shoe in his life. The old people used to say when shoes came out at first that they were (tramps) traps and they were afraid to put them on.
