- The farmer usually sows about an acre and a half or two acres of ground under the potatoe crop each year. First (it) (that) the land is ploughed in the month of February or March and made into ridges or drills. Then the farmer manures it and sows the slit. In two or three months sprays them to keep away the blight. The are several kinds of potatoes grown in my district namely: Aran Banners, Epicures, Champions, Kerrs Pinks, Dates, Aran Chiefs, Aran Vid, Flounders, May Queens, Duke of York and others.
