  1. Riobárd Bheldon : "Poet of the Comeragh's" whose life has been written and poems collected.
The following poem was written by him in English :
    Glen Mahon
How pleasant to roam on a fine afternoon
When heath-bells are dancing and wild thyme in bloom
Where cascades are falling as loud in their roar
As first when I saw them in the old days of yore
O lovliest of valleys none can excel thee
Where Mahon's dark waters run fiercely and free
Where the fox and the badger ae wont to play pranks
It's there I would wander on Mahon's green banks
In my youth I have loved thee with a fond heart and will
Dear sunny woodland how I love thee still
The heath shall be brown and the rocks shall be grey
When he who would praise thee shall moulder in clay
