  1. It is now nearly a hundred years since the night of the big wind. It occurred in the year 1839. My grandfather told me that it lasted a night. It did a lot of damage. He told me that his own house had a very narrow escape. There was a lot of stock allso killed on that night. The hay and oats was scattered around the
