    Some people on Easter Sunday wear a lily in honour of Easter week 1916.
    The old people believe that it is very unlucky if you throw out the ashes after sun-set on Hallow's Eve.
    Twenty years ago the Cootehill brass band used to play the old year out and the new year in, but it is no longer done.
    Nobody would give away money on the first of January because they thought it would be unlucky. Some of the old people still believe it yet.
