  1. On new year's day the people of the house watch those coming in to see the first lucky person. The first who wishes the people of the house a happy new year is considered a lucky person. If a red haired woman wishes you a happy new year her wish does not come through.
    It was customary on the 1st of February to get a mass said so that your cattle might do well for the rest of the year as St Bridget was the patron of cattle.
    Pancakes are made on shrove Tuesday and eaten by the family for the supper.
    There are fires lighted on Easter Sunday by the children of the house. They boil eggs and
