    Two farmers who were joined for the ploughing season were engaged ploughing in a field of one of them.

    The following story was told to me by my father, and it was related to him by my grandfather, and he says, it is perfectly true.
    Two farmers, who were joined for the ploughing season, were engaged in ploughing in a field of one of them. This field was adjacent to a lios or fort. One day while they were ploughing, they saw, what seemed to them, a "churning dash" lying at the head or top of the field. One of them said, "Perhaps someone wants this fixed." The other man replied "Sirrah have sense," and go on with the work, at the same time kicking "the dash" out of his way. No I will repair this first, said the other man. He took out his pocket-knife, cut a piece of stick, fastened it on to "the dash," and left it where he found it. When they came back to that part of the field the dash was gone. That same evening, in the same place, they found two pieces of oaten bread well buttered, the man that did the repairs said, "It was to repay them for what they done" and he took one piece and eat it, and asked the other man to have the second piece, but he
