    There is a hill in his farm called "Garrets Hill" because there was a man named Garret living on the top of it.
    There is another hill called "Cnuic na Rollála" because the young children of the district used to amuse themselves by rolling down the hill long ago.
    There is another hill called the "Battery" because long ago the people would stand on top of it and shoot off it.

    In the farm of David Kelly, Clohanes, Cree, Co. Clare the following names occur:-
    "Páirc Beag" is so called because it is a small square field
    "Halloran's field" because it was owned by a man of the Hallorans.
    "The Sally field" is so called because there are a lot of sallies growing there.
    "Tom Egan's field" is so called because a man named Tom Egan used to buy hay there long ago.
    "The black field" is so called because the earth of the field is black
    "Killeen's field" is so called because a man of the Killeens owned it long ago
    A field called "The Plot" is so called
