- The following is a poem which the people around Cahir used to be singing always long ago. Only the old people knnow it now. In the poem is given an account of a famous Irish grey hound called "Master McGrath." He was sent to England to run against the English dogs in a coursing match and, as the poem says, he came out victorious. "Rose" was the name of the hare chased;-
1869 being the date of the year,
When the Waterloo sportsmen and more did appear.
For to gain the great honour and bear with it all
Champions of England against Master McGrath.
