    They went on their way like this until the evening, collecting from all classes. One man carried a long pole with a little bag of soot tied to the end and the man who was not inclined to give money to the "wren boys" had soot shaken over him. The majoirty of the people in the old days gave money freely to the "wren boys" and they gave fun in exchange.
    The "wren boys" generally finished up with a dance.
