    On Saturday after noon,
    Bound for the town of Carrickmacross
    That place he entered soon,
    The villain took his lodging there
    But no one knew his plan
    He left on Saturday evening with a tin box in his hand

    To kill his lawful married wife
    All in her youth and bloom
    Likewise two children mother in law
    The four possessed one doom,
    Unto a lonely house in Nolagh
    The victims they did dwell.
    He contrived the murder from his heart,
    He feared not heaven or hell
    The devil was his master
    And him he did obey
    When he stole in on the window
