- I am a stream as old as time
From Mullagh's wave I take my rise
I gurgle on with busy chime
And sparkle like a lover's eyes.
By sedgy bank by fern and brake
I wind my course along the plain
A moment's rest I never take
But rush along to join the main.
II
My elements are bright and pure.
I issue from a thousand springs
My water could consumption cure
Would make a healing drink for Kings
My course is level till I reach
The little dunán at the fall
With gladstone mirth I leap the breach
And scatter down the rocky hall.
III
The violets blue and primrose pale
That stood my banks on either side
Their sweetest odour I inhale.
And bear them on my glassy tide.
Just here the drooping boughs abound.
I sparkle and I glisten
There's music in my surging sound
