  1. The local fairs are held in Virginia, Oldcastle, Mullagh, Bailieborough, Ballyjamesduff and in Kells. In Virginia the fair is held on the street, but in Oldcastle there is a fair green about a quarter of a mile outside the town. In the other towns the fairs are held on the streets.
    About a mile outside the town of Virginia on the Bailieborough-Virginia road there used to be a fair held at the crossroads about fifty years ago.
    Pig dealers go around to farmers houses and buy the pigs from them at the house. The best pig fairs are in June and July.
