    There was a Mermaid supposed to seen on a rock beside one of Mr. Duffy's fields in the Rampart. It is said she had a head arms face like a human being. It is said she can talk Irish and sing beautifully. She was seen combing her hair on the rock with a stone comb.

    About twelve months ago (one) a mermaid captured on the West coast of Ireland in a fishing net. She was kept in water for a few days but the water was not deep for her and she pined away and died.
