  1. We have numbers of holy wells throughout the country called after different saints who blessed them when they visited them. One of those wells is to be found in the townland of Kilbride in the parish of Mountnugent about a half mile from the village. It is known as Saint Bridget's Well. People never go to it on visiting days but go on a day when they want a cure. Some people go to this well when they want cures. They go for whooping cough and the toothache. They go and drink the water and bring some home in bottles for those purposes. All who went to this well got relief from their diseases very soon.
