  1. Long ago people did not wear boots until they were fifteen and sixteen years of age. There was a man and the people called him "Black thread" and "White thread", and he never wore boots. Children go bare-footed in the Summer, and others go the whole year round.
    When feet are washed at night the water is kept in the house to keep away fairies. Boots are both made and repaired in this district. There was
