  1. (continued from previous page)
In the midst of a meadow,
    Well covered with grass.
    I just took two acres.
    To tether my ass.
find the length of the cord
    That, if feeding all round.
    My donkey may graze
Just on that portion of ground.
When I was young they did me cut,
And in a hole thy did me put,
When I was scarcely six months old,
They came in search of my poor soul,
With iron and steel they did me turn,
With fire and water they did me burn,
When I was naked or in my jacket
They knew a place to put me in.
    One Tongue.
    There was a man
    Who offered me a wife
She was both fair and young
    She had the English, The
    Greek and the Latin tongue.
I thanked him and told him,
    I wanted no such
    A wife with one tongue
    I thought her too much.
