  1. Hallow eve is the merriest feast of the year with the exception of christmas.
    There are a lot of stories in connection with it. It is said that the fairies and ghosts are out on that night. They are said to destroy the blackberries.
    In this locality children duck for apples and money in tubs of water. An apple is hung from the ceiling and the person who is about to catch it in his mouth, must keep his hands behind his back.
    Another game is to leave three saucers, on a table, one containing water, another a ring and another clay. A person is blind-folded, and if he puts his hand into the saucer with water in it, he will cross the sea before that day next year. If he puts his hand into the saucer with the
