  1. They built Altichullion school on a fairy pass.
    The fairies had always gone that way at night.
    Ever since strange lights have been seen about the school and strange sounds are sometimes heard.
    It takes a brave youngster to to go by it alone in the small hours of the night.
    If it had been intended for a dwelling place it would have fallen ( the good people would have tossed it ) but being uninhabited at night it was only a minor injustice on them and so they let it be.
    Other people built houses on forbidden sites '' on passes '' and the houses fell during construction or else there was bad luck about them all the time.
    Old Mary Pat told me this story.
    One day about 90 or 100 years ago an old travelling red-haired woman came their way. They gave her a good charity and when she was leaving, as a repayment, she
