  1. Near the school is a piece of water called Crannog Lough. It derives its name from a Crannog or lake dwelling that was in it many years ago. There is a small island in the lough and on this the dwelling was built. This island is probably artificial. There is no trace of a house on it because it rotted away as it was made of wood. This house was built on the island so that they might be safe from wild beasts and robbers.
