  1. About sixty years ago the men used to assemble in the village of Roundwood carrying reaping hooks looking for work in the harvest fields each man used to cut two harvests in addition to his own

  2. Up to about 10 years ago the farmers did their threshing with a flail. The part that threshes the oats is called the bolsheen, the handle is a piece of wood that sticks out of the bolsheen and the handstaff the cap is a strap that joins the bolsheen and the handstaff together, the middle band is another strap.
