    cross the burning mountains, wheel to your left, and you'll see a lovely castle in a distance. When you go there the yard gate will be open, a yard-man will take your colt and tie it up, and will take your three dogs. But, don't attempt to give him Twig. Keep Twig with yourself. Now when you go in, you'll be asked to carve the dinner. The first bit you cut, throw it to Twig under the table. There will be an old woman at the other side of the table, and she will swell, to see the dog getting the first bit. There will be a big boiler of pitch at the side of the fire. The minute the old woman swells stick a knife through her stomach. The dog of 8-feet will run out in a mouse, under the table, and Twig will kill it. Then throw her right into the boiler of pitch".
    Everything happened just as the old man said, and the young gentleman did everything just as he advised. What appeared then, only the grandest princess ever seen. "Now", she says to the young gentleman, after your long journey you'll have to rest, and come upstairs with me". She put him in a grand bed to sleep. When he went to sleep, she ran an enchanted pin through his skull.
    All the grand people of the whole country round came to his funeral. The funeral reached 3 miles
