  1. There was a man called Mr. Osborne living in Ballyknocken. He was very poor. One day he was walking along a quarry when he saw a fairy. The fairy gave him a crock of gold and he is rich ever since.
    If all the girls and boys in a family are healthy except one which is very weak. That one is called a changeling. The people say that the father or mother must have vexed the fairies. Then the fairies took the healthy child and put a weak one in the healthy child's place.
    There is a fairy ring in the demesne of Blessington. It is a great big round circle of earth.
