  1. I
Though far way on the boundless praire
My heart did reign beyond the sea,
My dear old Ireland, my native sireland,
My spirit wonders in fancy free.
    II
Though oft in childhood ive roamed the wildwood
By Barrow banks and Clashganny mills
To view the scene of my vision bounded,
Blackstairs, mount Leinster and Brandon hill.
    III
I have rambled round in that peaceful valley
By Borris, Graig, and St Mullins mound,
Where the Saints and sages of former ages,
Repose in peace in that holy ground.
    IV
Over bog and mountain, over stream, and fountain
In passing onward I pause and weep
    At Knocksquire, Rathanna, and Ballymurphy,
Where friends, relations, and parents sleep.
    V
And drawing nearer a vision clearer
On Tinnecarrig Bold rock I stand
And changing round in that same condition,
Since boyhood days in my native land.
