    sportsman, He was noted for his fleetness of foot. He used to follow the huntsman and hounds at the local gathering and was able to keep pace on foot with the swiftest of their mounts.
    On the hurling field his equal could not be found. Any time he caught the ball he always scored a goal.
    He got into trouble with the police at one time and had to go on the run.
    One day the police came upon him in a disused house near Banagher. Tiquin at once bounded away, hotly pursued by the police whom he soon left far behind
