  1. My Home District.
I live in the townland of Kilcummin, about two miles away from the village of Belmont in the county of Offaly. There are about six hundred people in the district. The most popular name in the district is Kelly.
The river Brosna flows through the village of Belmont and the Shannon is about three miles away. There is a great deal of fishing done on the Shannon. There is a lot of bog in our district and there is very good turf in parts of it, but in other parts it is too brown and wet.
The houses in the districate and mostly slated. Most of them are newly built labourers cottages.
