    In Kilbride there is a field where people say a man dug his own grave...

    In Kilbride there is a field where people say a man dug his own grave. It is said he was a member of the United Irishmen, but was really a spy for the English. He was found out and sentenced to be shot. Six men brought him to Kilbride and forced him to dig a grave. He was standing at the edge of the grave when he was shot. He fell in and the others threw the stones and clay over him without waiting to see was he dead. It is said the first man buried in Kilbride graveyard Clara was shot in the same way, and for the same reason.
