    disguised as pedlars or tramps to put the soldiers off their scent for if they were caught an awful punishment would be doled to them and in some cases their ears would be chopped off.
    The Protestants used to spy and give information also, on this account they were never let know anything about the Priest or his whereabouts. There was a family named "Gainfort" and they still get the name of the "Priest Hunters". They are from the Oulart district with relatives here in this parish. Here is a little verse that is still sung about them
    "Oo Ro Gainfort
    Would you catch a Priest
    And the Harveys holding horses
    For Halfpence a piece"
