He is buried in Grange cemetry and the monument over him bears the inscription "here lies the body of Sir Walter Whitty and his cats."
Leprachauns are supposed to know where gold is buried also, near the village of Taghmon a farmer is said to have caught one and asked him where the gold was. He told him under the doorstep of his own house. He went home and it is said that he got a crock of gold but no one knows if it is the case or not.
