    Tis in the County Wexford a place known by Kayle,
    There lived a valoured sportsman his name I wont conceal
    For his mild and good behaviour he is known by great and small
    His name is William Stafford hes the boy that leads them all.

    The steed this worthy noble rode was of an Iron gray
    In hunting down the fox and deer he always led the way
    A quick set fence or an eight foot wall his equals cant be found
    He cleared them all without a fall when bullies must go round

    Reynard rose in Pilltown from that to Ballysop,
    From that to Carrigbyrne before the chase did stop.
    But men of fame they strove in vain to run our hero down
    But his steed was brave did them deceive 'twas on them he gained ground.

    Now those were of Cromwellians whiched grieved their hearts full sore
    To be conquered by our hero, being of the Milesean core
    This bold undaunted gallant youth lay steaming on the plain
    He won that chase with honour Cromwellians he distained
