  1. Food in Olden Times.
    The people of olden times only ate two meals a day. They always did a great deal of work before their breakfast. In the mornings they used to eat porridge and milk, and for their dinner they had potatoes and salt. Goats milk and potatoes was the staple food.
    The table was placed on the centre of the floor and the people sat around. The bread was made of yellow-meal. Meat was seldom eaten except at Christmas. On Easter Sunday the old Irish used to see who would
