   416 Local Heroes. There were not many strong men in my district in years gone by. It is said that a giant named Clifford threw a stone from Granard and it landed in Bernard Mulligan's field of Aughnacliffe a distance of about six miles. The stone is about 3 ton weight and it is to be seen yet. Edward Kilbride carried a harrow on his back from Aughakilmore to Coolarty without taking it off his back. The harrow was about 10 stones weight and the
