  1. Long ago there was a hedge school in Moyne. The name of the teacher who taught there was Patrick McGuire of Moyne. The hedge school was in his garden. The subjects taught were, reading, writing, and arithmetic. Irish was not allowed to be spoken. The pens which were used then were called quill pens.
