The crossroads between Leney and Multyfarnham was known as the Monument of Lacken. As tradition has it five English soldiers who were returning from the Battle of Granard were met there and slain by the Irish Soldiery. It is supposed they were buried underneath a mound which was there until recent years but which was moved by the orders of the County Surveyer as it was an obstruction to traffic.- Collector
