  1. In this district there was a rifle range during the occupation of the British Military in Ireland. It ceased to be used as such when the Provisional Goverment of Ireland came into being. It extends over the bog here from this townland (Curraghmore) to wooddow. A retired British solider named McKew, had charge of it. He is still alive and occupies the house alloted always to the keeper of the rifle range. All the members of his family, except one, have emigrated to America.
