  1. Once there was a man living in Johnstown who had three wives. The first was kitty not. She knitted all day but would never sew her clothes. The second wife spent all her time patching the clothes. She died and the third wife would tear all. No matter where she would go she would leave parts of her clothes after her. The day they buried the third wife, he stood over her grave and said, "God be with you "Knitty-knotty", Pitchy-Patchey was bad enough, but this one "Tear-all was worst of all."
