  1. The Big Wind occurred on the twelfth Night in 1893. There was a family in Johnstown called Walshes and the old mother was very sick. When the storm was raging high, the son took out his mother & tied her to a bush outside. Then when he went back he let out his two cows, but when he returned to where he had left his mother, he found neither bush or mother, but after a while he found her a mile & a half away.
