    There are no local fairs held in the village of Drumconrath at the present time. In former years fairs were held on the village street.Buyers at the present time transact a great lot of their business at the farmers' houses.
    Fairs are now discontinued because they failed from lack of buyers. Toll was not paid the cattle (?) .When an animal is sold luck money is given about half a crown on the deal.When making a bargain the buyer and seller spit on each others hands to show the agreement.
    When the animals are sold they are marked on the flank with raddel and sometimes with mud.Some dealers mark the animals by clipping, by clipping on the back in a certain way. Others clip the hair on the hip in a particular way. each dealer has his own particular way of marking.
